Babesia, Dysautonomia & POTS: Tick-Borne Impact on Heart & Health

All

Tick-borne infections are known for their physical toll—fatigue, joint pain, and fever are the usual suspects. But what about their impact on the heart and nervous system? Among these infections, Babesia, a malaria-like parasite, is often overlooked as a cause of Dysautonomia, POTS, and heart rhythm disorders.

In my experience, Babesia doesn’t just disrupt your physical health—it creates a cascade of symptoms that are often dismissed or misdiagnosed as anxiety or stress. Let’s dive into how Babesia impacts the pericardium (the protective sac around the heart), the autonomic nervous system, and why many are left searching for answers.

Babesia and Dysautonomia: The Overlooked Connection

Babesia can be a hidden cause of Dysautonomia and POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). These conditions, often characterized by heart rate irregularities and low blood pressure, can leave patients debilitated. However, few practitioners connect these symptoms to tick-borne infections.

How Babesia Causes Dysautonomia Symptoms

  1. Oxygen Deprivation: Babesia infects red blood cells, reducing oxygen delivery to the heart and brain. This can lead to tachycardia, fainting, and chronic fatigue.
  2. Systemic Inflammation: Babesia’s presence triggers an immune response that inflames the pericardium, causing irregular heart rhythms, chest pain, and a racing heart.
  3. Autonomic Dysfunction: Inflammation disrupts the autonomic nervous system, causing swings in blood pressure, extreme fatigue, and symptoms that mimic anxiety or panic attacks.

If you’re unsure whether Babesia might be behind your symptoms, consider comprehensive Lyme disease testing to uncover the root cause of your condition. Learn more about Lyme disease testing and its importance here.

Why These Symptoms Are Often Misdiagnosed

Many people with Babesia-induced heart and nervous system symptoms are misdiagnosed. They are often labeled with Dysautonomia, POTS, or anxiety without addressing the root cause.

I’ve lived this nightmare myself. During my first pregnancy, I was bedbound for six months, experiencing intense heart pain and dangerously low blood pressure (80/42). Despite these alarming symptoms, I was told by doctors that “nothing serious” would happen.

It was only one doctor who finally said something that made sense:
“If you have Babesia, it can cause tremendous heart damage.”

I immediately responded, “Yes, I do have Babesia! So please don’t tell other patients that nothing serious can happen to them. They deserve better than being dismissed like I was.”

This experience taught me the importance of seeking out practitioners who understand the true risks of Babesia and how it impacts the heart and nervous system.

Getting a Handle on Hormones: The First Step to Healing

Hormones play a significant role in how your body handles chronic infections like Babesia. Without balanced hormones, your body may struggle to regulate inflammation, repair damage, or even maintain steady energy. That’s why I often recommend starting with hormone support before tackling deeper infections.

My Hormone & PMS Support Supplement / Menopause Support (wherever you are on your hormone journey)  has been designed to restore hormonal balance, improve energy, and regulate stress. It’s an ideal first step for anyone dealing with hormonal imbalances due to chronic illness. Learn more about Hormone & PMS Support / Menopause Support here.

For those ready to dive deeper, my BOOST supplement is perfect for supporting adrenal and brain health, particularly for those experiencing severe fatigue, brain fog, and stress-related symptoms. Check out BOOST here.

Want a complete plan to tackle hormone imbalances and chronic symptoms? My DIY Program Bundle walks you through balancing hormones, addressing infections, and optimizing your health step-by-step. Learn more about the DIY Program Bundle here.

Healing Babesia and Supporting Heart and Nervous System Health

Healing from Babesia is possible, but it requires a comprehensive approach that addresses both the infection and its impact on the heart and autonomic nervous system.

1. Testing for Tick-Borne Infections

If you’ve been diagnosed with Dysautonomia or POTS but also experience unexplained symptoms like fatigue, night sweats, or heart irregularities, it’s time to test for Babesia. Advanced diagnostics, including bioenergetic testing, can uncover hidden infections that traditional tests may miss. Learn more about bioenergetic testing here.

2. Treating the Babesia Infection

The foundation of healing starts with addressing the infection itself:

  • Herbal protocols: I am an expert herbalist so I know a thing or two about herbal protocols for Babesia.
  • Homeopathic protocols: there are so many helpfull homeopathic remedies out there the hard part is choosing which one so work with somebody that knows what they are doing.
  • Detoxification support: Removing inflammatory byproducts of the infection helps relieve systemic symptoms.

3. Supporting Heart and Nervous System Recovery

Once the infection is addressed, it’s vital to provide targeted support to heal the heart and nervous system:

  • Anti-inflammatory supplements like omega-3s, curcumin, and magnesium help reduce pericardial inflammation and regulate heart rhythm.
  • HeartMath techniques: By improving the brain-heart connection, HeartMath can help regulate autonomic function and restore balance.
  • Electrolytes: Minerals like magnesium and potassium stabilize blood pressure and heart rate. Check out my FREE 9 recipes for homemade electrolytes GUIDE here

4. Emotional Healing

Tick-borne infections don’t just affect the body—they take an emotional toll. I often incorporate:

  • Resonance Repatterning to release unconscious patterns that keep the nervous system in overdrive.
  • Mind-body techniques to build emotional resilience and reduce stress.

Next Steps

If you suspect Babesia is behind your Dysautonomia or POTS symptoms, here’s how to take control of your health:

  1. Book a Consultation: Work with a practitioner who understands tick-borne infections and their impact on the heart and nervous system.
  2. Get Tested: Advanced diagnostics can identify hidden infections like Babesia. Read my blog on my preferred form of testing.
  3. Start a DIY Protocol: Target the infection while supporting your body’s healing systems.

Your symptoms are real, and there is hope. Together, we can uncover the root cause and restore balance to your health.
